Interview With Danielle McHale
(Wednesday 6th October)
On Wednesday, Danielle came over to the Image Culture headquarters and let us pick her brain with a series of intrusive questions about the fashion industry, false advertising and how people are manipulated into buying certain things. Danielle without a doubt, had strong opinions throughout the interview and was able to feed us with lengthy views from beginning to end. Such a response has been a great insight into the feelings of the consumer through this transition of the consumerist culture and an abundance of inescapable advertising on the streets, public transport, the web, on TV and the radio amongst a dozen of other places! One question we asked her was. Do you think people conform to stereotypes, ie. celebrity stereotypes? her response to this rumbled the culture crew; i do think a lot of people try and dress up like their favourite celebrity, not everyone, but I do think a lot of teenagers do. Danielle got us questioning this obsession with the celebrity culture and why children today want to replicate the outlandish behaviour and inappropriate style of many of their idols.
